Welcome to Triple Nickel Pines: An Airbnb with Heart and a Herd

Nestled in the serene landscapes of the Pacific Northwest, Triple Nickel Pines offers more than just a cozy retreat. Our Airbnb cabins provide guests with the unique opportunity to connect with nature—and with some very special residents: our beloved rescue alpacas. Here’s the story of how our alpaca sanctuary came to life, the challenges we’ve faced, and how you can be a part of this journey.

The Unexpected Start to an Alpaca Rescue

When we initially explored the idea of bringing alpacas to Triple Nickel Pines, we envisioned happy, healthy animals from a local farm. But fate had a different plan. The farm owner reached out to us about three alpacas in dire need of a new home from another owner Without hesitation, we stepped in, bringing those rescues to our property along with two healthy alpacas from her herd.

Seeing the condition of the rescues—underweight, injured, and neglected—was heartbreaking, but we knew this was the start of something bigger. Our mission became clear: to provide a safe, loving home where these animals could heal and thrive.

Caring for Our Special Herd

Rescuing alpacas has been both rewarding and challenging. Each alpaca comes with unique needs:

  • Lulu has a displaced shoulder, a deformed foot, and a jaw misconfiguration. While she’s adapted to her disabilities, she requires extra patience and occasional medication on slower days.

  • Sky struggles with trust and remains cautious around humans, but we’re giving her the time and space she needs to feel safe.

  • Kristina, Sky’s baby, is learning social behaviors from her mom and our two extroverted alpacas, Ebony and Trooper.

Ebony and Trooper, the friendliest of the herd, have been instrumental in helping the rescues socialize. Through hand-feeding and spending time with our guests, they show the others that humans can be kind and caring.

How Guests Play a Role in Socialization

At Triple Nickel Pines, we’ve found that involving guests in the alpacas' care is a win-win. Guests staying in our cabins can:

  • Hand-feed the alpacas with treats from our gumball machine (just $0.25).

  • Interact with them at the fence line, fostering trust and familiarity.

  • Enjoy plans for future alpaca yoga sessions and picnics by the pasture.

These interactions not only enhance the guest experience but also help the alpacas associate humans with positive, enriching moments. Lulu’s progress has been especially encouraging—she’s gone from avoiding people entirely to cautiously accepting treats and attention from visitors.

Giving Back: Supporting the Alpacas

Every booking at Triple Nickel Pines directly supports the care and well-being of our alpacas. But we’ve taken it a step further:

  • 100% of proceeds from our Airbnb’s TikTok Shop and Amazon storefront go toward the rescue.

  • Funds are used for veterinary visits, shelter expansion, nutritious feed, and playful amenities like sprinklers to keep the alpacas cool in the summer.

Your stay and purchases help ensure these gentle creatures continue to receive the care they deserve while enabling us to take in more rescues in the future.

Looking Ahead: Dreams for the Rescue

As our rescue grows, we have big plans:

  • Expanding shelters to accommodate more alpacas.

  • Creating designated spaces for males and females.

  • Building picnic and yoga areas for enhanced guest interactions.

  • Installing irrigation systems for year-round grazing and summer water fun.

We’re committed to educating visitors about alpaca care, their unique personalities, and the joy of rescuing animals in need.
